Raul A. Monzon, M.D. is an anesthesiologist specializing in interventional pain medicine. He is a leading Pain Specialist with over 20 years of experience treating patients with acute, chronic and cancer pain disorders. Since 1990, Dr. Monzon has built an impeccable reputation among his patients and colleagues gaining remarkable results in the treatment of pain.
Dr. Monzon graduated from the reputable Universidad Central del Este, D.R. in 1988. He completed four years of residency in General Surgery at Jersey City Medical Center, N.J. In addition, he also completed his anesthesiology training at Seton Hall-St. Joseph Hospital in New Jersey with a concentration in Cardio Thoracic Anesthesia and Pain Management.
After completing his residencies in 1990, Dr. Monzon relocated to Palatka, Fla., and started practicing as an Anesthesiologist at Putnam Community Hospital. He later co-founded the first pain clinic in Putnam County at Putnam Community Hospital with satellite offices in St Augustine, Fla., at Putnam Community Hospital. He served as Chairman for the Surgery Quality Assurance Committee as well as Director of the Anesthesia Department and as a member of the Board of Medical Executive Committee.
In 1999 Dr. Monzon founded PAIN MANAGEMENT SPECIALISTS OF NORTH FL, PA and started his solo private practice. At its two locations, in St. Augustine and Palatka, Pain Management Specialists of North Florida offer a full spectrum of cutting edge treatment of pain that can reduce the inflammation of painful nerves, spinal discs, joints or muscles by combining both medication and physical modalities with life fluoroscopic guidance and ultrasound guided injections. The centers are registered with the Department of Health in Florida and offer non-surgical and minimally invasive procedures to treat pain precisely at its site.
Dr. Monzon is presently the only pain specialist physician to hold staff privileges at Putnam Community Hospital. Dr. Monzon also holds staff privileges at Flagler Hospital in St Augustine, Fla.,-named one of America's Best 50 Hospitals by Health Grades in 2011.

Dr. Monzon is the former President of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine. Presently he serves as a Delegate for the Florida Medical Society and St. Johns Medical Society.
While committed to fighting for the rights of patients with chronic, acute, and cancer pain disorders, Dr. Monzon has also helped craft legislation to halt illegal “pill mills” in Florida.
During his spare time, Dr. Monzon is well known for giving back to his community. As a National Spanish Olympic Fencing champion in Madrid, Spain, he recognizes how important it is for children to have sports in their lives. He is a Nationally Certified Soccer coach specializing in select/advanced training and has been volunteering to local Soccer Leagues for the past 20 years.
